Like a lot of great stories, theirs started in a bar.

Tim and his friends were out. So were Rachel and hers. Both groups found themselves at Kings Hardware in Ballard, Seattle.

After some liquid courage, Rachel told her friends, "I'm going to talk to the next cute guy that walks into the bar."

Then, in walks Tim.

Rachel said "Hey you! Come over here!"

Looking confused, Tim did the classic "Who? Me?"

"Yeah. You."

Conversation ensued and numbers were exchanged. And the following Monday, they were out on their first date, accidentally finding themselves in the middle of karaoke, where they sang a perfectly pitched "Land Down Under" by Men at Work.

Neither would ever have a first date again.

In the course of their relationship, they've enjoyed spending time with their tiny pet monster (Finn), attending concerts, watching their favorite sports teams, traveling and soaking in the outdoors. They've also supported each other in times of loss and illness—all of those experiences only making their relationship stronger.

So, on December 15, 2023, Tim asked Rachel the big question.

"Will you marry me?"

This day would be one of the best in their lives. And they continue to take advantage of every moment together, both so eager to say "I do."
